Paisli's 1st food

Paisli is ravenous.

Paisli is round.

Paisli is lumpy.

And so...plumpy.

My milk couldn't keep up with her appetite almost from the beginning, but that's not saying much since we all know I produce practically skim milk and a low quantity at that.

She's now in size 4 diapers (well, to be fair, she should be in size 3, but Kiersa's in size 4 and the two sizes look too close together to keep them on the correct baby, so we just buy size 4 for both), and though they're for heavier babies, her chub fills them in just fine.

She's been downing 8+ ounce bottles for quite a while now. She's only 4 months, but it's time to introduce her to some food so her belly will stay full longer.

This face expresses her opinion of mushy oatmeal baby cereal perfectly.

Hyrum always gives the babies their first bath and their first feeding of solid food. They like the food about as much as they like getting cold in a sponge bath.

Not to worry, Paisli, I'm sure Daddy will be sneaking you contraband soon enough.

Fishing!

We took the kids fishing for the first time...finally! We found a remote mountain "lake" called Sru Lake that really isn't anything more than a pond, but it's quaint and quiet. It's the one we went hiking around (I blogged about it previously). It's well stocked with trout that are jumping like crazy, and sure enough, the kids had some luck with catching their first fish. Our good friends, the Toveys, joined us in our quest for the big one. Sadly, they were all tiny, but we kept a few and I have to admit, they were good eats, even for someone who doesn't enjoy fish.

Here are Maelin and Talea (they're close to the same age) realing in their catch.

Talea, being a lover of all things slimy, creepy, crawlie, fuzzy, 6-legged or hairy, found it quite amusing to play with her catch.

Zack and Hyatt caught some also.

Moira and Kiersa (a month apart in age) always love hanging out together. Kiersa sees Moira and says "Mo Mo Mo!" (Mo is her nickname).

Hopefully we'll be going back sometime soon for more fishing fun, though I don't know that Debbie will be anxious to travel on the winding roads to get carsick again.

Paisli Taya

Paisli is starting to sit up!

She can even do it unsupported for a few seconds.

And because I posted a picture of Kiersa's disgustingly snotty nose a long while ago, I didn't want her to be alone so I'm including a picture of Paisli's recent snot bubble...for her enjoyment.

I don't know what's up with the rash on her face, other than the fact that all of my kids have inherited Hyrum's sensitive skin, but it suddenly spread to her hand and arm also. I had it on my neck and arms the other day too. Weird. Mine went away, but hers has lingered. Hmmm.

A shaven and shorn Paisli

Okay, everyone knows what a paisley looks like, right? A chubby, bottom-heavy, cute design. Quite lovely with its decorative ornamentation and prickly, stubbled exterior.

Pretty much exactly like my little Paisli.
Chubby...yes.
Bottom heavy...quite.
Cute...of course.
Decorated...well, when I dress her up.
Prickly and stubbled...her head is, definitely.

Now I know that chicks with mullets are irresistible to some...

but I find that for me, they are actually quite repulsive. At the first sign of mullet development, all my kids have been subjected to the shaving shears. Paisli had her turn today.

Before: mullet

After: nice and even

She found it so relaxing to get shaved that she fell asleep during the process.

Ahhh. I can sigh a sigh of relief knowing the mullet is GONE and now her hair can all grow in together all at the same time. Much better than a mullet that's receding in the front!

Paisley isn't a pattern that everyone loves. In fact, I've heard people refer to paisley as a design their dad would wear. Well, I think my dad looks great wearing Paisli.

Mason renovation

The Masonic Lodge is just across the street from our house, and it's been a sad eye-sore for quite a while.

Mercifully, they're reroofing it, painting it, and replacing the windows. Hopefully that will improve our property value!
