Almost every one of my birthdays growing up was spent camping...usually at Lost Creek Lake. We haven't gone on each of birthdays since getting married, but still quite a few.
After an incredibly stressful day at work on Friday, we needed to get away and talk about things, so we jumped in the trailer and took off on a birthday-camping trip.
We needed to find a free place that was close, so we went to Frona Park for the first time. It was a small campground that had a playground (with a death-slide that was twice as tall as any child-friendly slide has the right to be). It also had a creek running by it so on Saturday (after we went back to town for the city-wide garage sale), we hunted for crawdads (we ate them for dinner) and let the kids float. One thing I love about Oregon is that the rivers are always so crystal clear.
On our way back to the campground, we found a pick-your-own blueberries farm, so we stopped by to try our hand at family berry picking.
I think they should have weighed the kids before and after. I think they ate everything they picked. We LOVE LOVE LOVE blueberries!!!

We strongly dislike the hot sun. Our decision to go picking was spur-of-the-moment, so we ended up picking in the heat of the day (which was about 75 or 80 degrees) in full sun. Our whole family prefers shade and cool temperatures, so we were trying to hide in the bushes to pick in order to find relief.
We still managed to pick close to 15 pounds, and less than half of that ended up getting frozen when we finished camping. We ate blueberries constantly while camping, and what goes in must come out, including blueberries. The aroma of berries was filling the bathroom (and diapers) and the evidence of their ingestion was apparent. We'll be going picking again before the season is over for sure!

I don't mind aging either - but I can't believe how old I am.
My kids eat blueberries like candy so I wish we had a pick-your-own farm for them out here! Sadly, our only choice is to buy tiny, super expensive crates of them at the grocery store.
