I pulled out the Talia fabric and decided to teach my Talea how to sew.
She made her first pillowcase!
She pinned the fabric, sewed the seams, pinked the excess seam allowance, trimmed the threads and sewed the opening with a decorative wavy stitch.

She did so well! I barely had to help guide her hands. If I wasn't so protective of my machine (it's a Viking #1+ and it cost me $1800 with my discount when I worked at the Viking distributor...it was top-of-the-line when I bought it), I would unleash her on more projects. It will take me a while to get enough guts to let her loose on my baby.
I used to have a Walmart machine (Brother brand) that I kept when I bought my nice machine, just so my kids could learn on it, but I'm afraid I must have gotten rid of it at some point in order to not become a hoarder. Now I need it, darn it!
I know! Some day I'll get the new high-end Viking and let my kids have my current one. (Yeah, right. Like we'll have space for that while we're traveling.)

She did such a nice job!

Wow, cool! I really wish I learned to sew and am so jealous of people who can. Wanna teach me Talea?
